Wedding web sites updated

Ron from Eye-deas is in the process of updating his web site. And Wan Sheng from Feldberyl has updated his web site!

What can I say? These guys are great wedding photographers. It is so nice to see the great images Ron and Wan Sheng are producing. Along with Kuang and Eadwine, these are the guys I recommend to the wedding enquiries that I still get once in a while.

I guess some people will ask me if I miss wedding photography? The honest answer is no. It is a stage I went through but it does not challenge me now. At least not in the form that it is practised in Singapore.

hmm..so what form of wedding photography (that is not practised in Singapore)challenges you ? Care to share ?

It is a real pity that you don't shoot weddings anymore, but your photos definitely keep my eyes wide open.

I think that the loose 'photojournalistic' style and the older posed style are not what is interesting to me. If I were to shoot a wedding, I would like to create art work. Shoot scenes on large format. Take candids on a lomo cross process. Bring studio lighting to parts of the wedding. I think it is possible to push the feel of an image much more. But this will cost much more and as the work will be more 'impressionistic', it may be harder to accept.

Hello Heng,
I was searhing through google imsges for dance photos to use for the publicity of my dance club in an orientation package (for uni freshies) and I found one of your photos, which led me to your blogs. I'm really captivated by your photos! Some of them really made me gasp and go wow. Anyway, I would like to ask for your permission to use the photo (referred to as "Jiri Kylian's Stomping Ground" in your blog) for my club's advertisement leaflet. It caught my eye and it's really suitable for our leaflet, because it's simple yet interesting. I know a lot of effort must have gone into producing those photos, and it's unethical of me to just "rip" it off your blog and use it for my club's own purposes. Is it copyrighted? Can we use it as part of the design of the leaflet? It's rather urgent as we have to send it for printing of 5000 copies in two days' time, so I hope to receive your reply soon! Will return to your blog to check! :) And btw, we're from NTU too!

Dear Mavis,

I would like to help but cannot in this situation. The photos of Stomping Ground was a commission by Singapore Dance Theatre. Although I do own the copyright of the image, I have not got the model rights. The other thing is that it would imply a relationship between Singapore Dance Theatre and your club. Singapore Dance Theatre may object to this.

So I cannot help you in this instance. But if you and your club want to take your own photographs, I may be able to help. Let me know.
